Experience

I have experience just like the title implies . No , not job experience, but experience in bullying . It hits home for me to be a part of this group . My son is autistic and has ADHD. He thinks very differently and acts very differently. I find it to be a good thing because we were all created that way on purpose by our Father God. Being you is a gift from him that shouldn't be made fun of or teased. Our uniqueness should be celebrated and encouraged , but we live in a fallen world that is riddled with evil unfortunately. I can remember my son at the young age of five being bullied for the way he looked because he wore glasses . I can remember him being bullied because he would make random noises in class . Even to the point that the teacher put him in a corner of the classroom because he was a "distraction" . Yes my friends he was even bullied by a teacher ! How do you expect a child that has social issues to ever be social by out casting him ? Thank God we moved to Stokes county by the fourth grade and we have been here ever since . There are so many stories I could tell you about how bad it got , but in this post I would like to leave a little hope for those out there with children struggling with being bullied . Has he had zero incidents of being bullied since moving here? No , but I will say this . The children here (for the most part ) have rallied around him by supporting him and encouraging him , loving him for who he is and celebrating his uniqueness. There are also teachers who have done the same. It breaks my heart tho to know there are some children that never get to experience this type of love . We have to do a better job as a community of rallying around those who are being bullied and uplift them. Always ask your children and love ones about what is going on in their lives is a start, if they don't tell you in fear of being embarrassed or trying to protect your feelings it could truly end tragic just like it did for this sweet girl . We have got to come together and brainstorm a way to stop this . Teachers need to be held more accountable. You know they see it ! Staff needs to be more accountable! How could anyone turn a blind eye to someone being mistreated. Speak up , speak out stand up for what is right !
